Procedural Gothic Cathedral
A specialization in Procedural Modeling.
Procedural modeling is when geometry is created by a set of rules. By influencing the input to these rules, you can manipulate the output geometry.
Using procedural modeling in SideFX Houdini, I have created a Gothic Cathedral, which the user can manipulate using sliders (as shown in the first image). Using these slidersyou can change the size, shape, windows, towers, and more, of this cathedral.

On the right you can see some of the adjustments that the user can make to create the Cathedral.

This model of the Notre Dame de Paris was created by inputting the info of the Notre Dame into the procedure, such as the height (from wikipedia), and the compartments (from an image of its plan).

These are some examples created in under 6 minutes, using the procedure. These are not based on existing cathedrals.

The procedure can create any of these window shapes.
